WARRANTY POLICY
LIMITED WARRANTY
District Mills warrants to the original purchaser that its products will be free from defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use for a period of six months from the original delivery date, unless otherwise stated in writing.
This limited warranty applies only to the original purchaser and is non-transferable.
During the applicable warranty period, District Mills may, at its sole discretion:
- repair the product
- replace defective components or materials
- provide replacement parts
- offer another reasonable remedy deemed appropriate by District Mills
Any warranty claim or request for service must be accompanied by the original order number or proof of purchase. District Mills reserves the right to deny warranty service without valid proof of purchase.
Warranty Coverage & Exclusions
This warranty applies only to products purchased directly from District Mills or an authorized District Mills seller and covers defects arising under normal intended residential use.
This warranty does not cover:
- normal wear and tear
- commercial or institutional use unless otherwise approved in writing
- misuse, abuse, neglect, accidents, or improper maintenance
- improper installation, handling, storage, or transportation
- unauthorized modifications, alterations, or repairs
- exposure to excessive moisture, humidity, dryness, temperature fluctuation, or environmental conditions
- acts of nature including fire, flooding, storms, earthquakes, or other force majeure events
- damage caused by customer-arranged shipping or third-party movers
- cosmetic conditions, variations, or characteristics inherent to natural materials
Because many District Mills products are handcrafted from natural wood and materials, variations in wood grain, texture, coloration, distressing, finish, knots, movement, expansion, contraction, checking, or minor cracking are considered normal characteristics of the material and are not considered defects.
District Mills reserves the sole right to determine whether any issue constitutes a manufacturing defect covered under this warranty.
Returns of Non-Defective Products
Due to the custom, made-to-order nature of many District Mills products, non-defective items are generally not eligible for return, exchange, or refund.
However, District Mills understands that unique circumstances may occasionally arise. In certain cases, and solely at our discretion, we may elect to authorize a return, exchange, store credit, or other accommodation on a case-by-case basis.
Any approved non-defective return or exchange may be subject to:
- return shipping and freight charges
- delivery and crating costs
- storage fees
- refinishing or repair costs
- restocking fees
- any other applicable expenses incurred by District Mills
Original shipping, delivery, and white glove service fees are non-refundable.
Returned products must be unused, unaltered, and in condition suitable for resale, as determined solely by District Mills. Any modifications, damage, wear, installation, misuse, or alterations may render a product ineligible for return or credit.
Customers are responsible for coordinating and covering all return transportation costs unless otherwise agreed to in writing.
Approval of any return, exchange, credit, or accommodation in one instance does not constitute an ongoing policy or guarantee of future exceptions.
Warranty Service Procedures
If you believe your product may qualify for warranty service, please contact District Mills at info@districtmills.com with:
- your order number or proof of purchase
- photographs of the issue
- a detailed description of the concern
District Mills may request additional information or documentation in order to evaluate the claim.
If return or repair service is approved, customers must follow all shipping and packaging instructions provided by District Mills. Customers are responsible for properly packaging and protecting products during transportation.
District Mills is not responsible for damage occurring during return shipment arranged by the customer or third-party carriers.
Shipping costs associated with approved warranty claims within thirty (30) days of delivery may, at District Mills’ discretion, be covered by District Mills. After this period, all transportation, freight, shipping, labor, and related service costs associated with warranty or non-warranty work are generally the responsibility of the customer unless otherwise agreed to in writing.
Repair or replacement timeframes are estimates only and may vary depending on product type, material availability, workload, and freight scheduling.
Any replacement parts or repaired products provided under this warranty remain subject to the original warranty period and do not extend or renew the warranty term.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, District Mills shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to:
- the use or inability to use a product
- delays
- loss of use
- loss of profits
- loss of business
- inconvenience
- damage to other property
District Mills’ total liability under this warranty or relating to any product shall not exceed the original purchase price of the product giving rise to the claim.
The remedies provided under this warranty are exclusive and in lieu of all other remedies, whether oral, written, express, or implied.
District Mills disclaims all implied warranties, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose, to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law.
No dealer, representative, installer, contractor, employee, or third party is authorized to modify or extend this warranty in any way.
