Bestia Restaurant Installation

Lots of overtime, lots of hard work, but the day has come to take our babies out of the shop and get them out into the world to their final home.

WorkHorse

mechanical horseThis horse keeps disappearing and reappearing in random spots around the shop. I’m pretty sure its just different people moving it when its in the way, but we’re going to pretend that there is a deep darkĀ  ghost story behind it and that it comes alive at night and gallops around the building.

Lathe

Jeremy turning some table legs for Bestia Restaurant opening up soon in our neighborhood of Downtown LA. Good food will undoubtedly speak for itself, but dining out is also about the ambiance, the experience, everything should compliment the food, furniture included. We’ve been working with the owners on the design and are confident that Bestia is going to turn out to be something quite unique.

Planer

Unfortunately for some, reclaimed wood does not magically come planed and finished and in nice uniform bundles like lumber at the hardware store. If it did, we would have nice shiny robots to do all our work for us while we sip cocktails and everyone would have the nice same furniture as everyone else. Fortunately for us, getting to turn ugly ducklings into cinderella’s is what we enjoy. As we pass each piece (and we do each and every piece) through our machines (planers, sanders, etc.) you begin to find methods and adjustments to bring out and appreciate the smaller details, the grain, the colors, an interesting organic pattern, things that are hidden from plain sight, but brought out through a painstaking process. The end result is something truly unique, and no piece is ever the same.
